Lan Nguyen on Brain Drain/Brain Gain

Lan Nguyen (IPE '08) will report on her 2007 summer research program in an IPE Brown Bag Lunch program on Wednesday, February 13 at noon in the WSC Murray Boardroom. Lan's research, which was funded by a $4000 grant from the IPE program, examined policies in Vietnam to deal with brain drain issues and brain gain opportunities. Lan may also comment on how this issues play out today in South Africa, where she studied in Fall 2007.

Professor Veseth will also answer questions about the IPE Summer Research Fellowship (deadline in early March) and other summer research opportunities. The IPE Fellowship is funded by royalties from the IPE textbook projects and gifts from generous friends of the IPE program.

Please also mark your calendar for the February 20 Brown Bag program. IPE alumna Julie Goldenberg will talk about her post-graduate experiences first in an international masters program at Rutgers, then as a Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras and now as a US-based fund raiser for an international school in Honduras.

Finally, keep your eyes and ears open for information about an IPE team that is being organized for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life challenge. You're up for a challenge, aren't you? IPE majors usually are!
