Study abroad application process update

As most of you know, Study Abroad application process has been revised. Here is the latest update from International Programs.

Students must meet the minimum GPA established by the program at the time of application in order to apply to study abroad.

All students are required to turn in completed study abroad program applications for summer 2010, fall 2010, full year 2010-11, spring 2011 to International Programs, Howarth 215, by February 15, 2010.

For spring 2011 programs requiring an additional semester of language or other subject students should indicate on the application form which course(s) they plan to take in fall 2010 to meet this requirement.

Students applying for spring 2011 programs will receive approval/recommendation of acceptance into the program contingent upon maintaining the required GPA and completing the additional language or subject course (as applicable).

Students are strongly encouraged to have a second-choice program as a back-up in cases where their first choice may fill up, or they are not selected for their first-choice program:

For fall 2010 programs, students should complete the application for their back-up program by the February 15, 2010 deadline;

For spring 2011 programs student should turn in the application for their back-up program to International Programs by May 1, 2010.

All 2010-2011 study abroad students should request an unofficial transcript be sent to International Programs after spring 2010 grades are posted. It is the students’ responsibility to send the official transcript reflecting Spring 2010 grades directly to their program if requested by the program.
