Congratulations to Professor Emelie Peine!

Emelie K. Peine has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar Fellowship for the spring 2013 semester. Her research will take her to Brazil where she will investigate the implications of Chinese investment in the Brazilian soybean sector for both farmers and Brazilian food sovereignty. She will be based at the Federal Rural University in Rio de Janeiro, and her fieldwork will take her to the states of Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, and Bahia in the central and central-west regions of the country. In addition to her research, she’s looking forward to brushing up on her Portuguese and enjoying the Brazilian delicacies of acaí and acarajé.
