Interested in the Foreign Service?


Please join the IPE Program and CES for the first IPE Brown Bag Series speaker of the semester! Grab your lunch and join us for a special presentation on how to prepare for the Foreign Service Officer exam. Our guest speaker, Mr. Trip Atkins, has extensive experience in both the Civil and Foreign Service. Come help us kick off the spring semester this coming Wednesday, February 2nd, at noon in Wheelock Student Center (SUB) 101.

Trip Atkins has served as the Assistant Regional Director of the Department of State’s Seattle Passport Agency since 1998. Prior to his current assignment, he served 13 years as a Foreign Service Officer for the Department. Previous assignments include overseas tours as Management Officer in Vladivostok, Russia; General Services Officer in Moscow, USSR; and Consular Officer in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. Domestic assignments have included tours with the Secretariat Staff and Operations Center and in the Bureau of Consular Affairs’ Visa Office and Office of Overseas Citizens’ Services.

Mr. Atkins is a recipient of the Department of State’s Superior Honor Award and Meritorious Honor Award. His foreign languages are Russian and German. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia, and currently lives in Seattle with his wife and three children.
